Description

What Goes Where? Choosing Plants and Patterns to Best Suit your Habitats

There are native plants that work well together for each type of soil and sun exposure you have - wet, dry, open or shady. In session three we’ll dig into the specifics of habitat requirements, and equip you to make informed decisions about plants beyond pre-established lists. Learn about the plants that have the most specialized needs, as well as our nursery manager’s personal top picks for almost any situation. We’ll help you get to know your own site better, and show you plenty of examples of model plantings you can visit at Mount St. John including dry woodland edges, keyhole prairies, our famous “ditch garden,” raingardens and and pollinator plantings. After this session, you’ll have all the resources you need to make your picks at our annual native plant sale on Saturday, June 26th. Don’t forget, Friends of MEEC members can pre-order plants!
